Agriculture & Plantation Officer
Company: Bisso Village & Estate Resort
Location: Kohiladeniya Estate, Dehiwitiya Road, Eheliyagala
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and supervise day-to-day agricultural and plantation activities
- Monitor planting, crop maintenance, watering, fertilizing, pruning, harvesting, and other field activities
- Maintain the health, productivity, cleanliness, and appearance of cultivated areas
- Supervise estate workers and daily field tasks
- Prepare daily and weekly plans based on plantation priorities
- Monitor crop conditions and identify pests, diseases, nutrient deficiencies, and related issues
- Assist with fertilizers, crop protection, and sustainable agriculturists practices
- Maintain irrigation systems and support efficient use of water and estate resources
- Monitor equipment, agricultural inputs, and plantation supplies
- Maintain basic records on cultivation, harvests, inputs, stock, and field progress
- Report agricultural, maintenance, and operational issues to management promptly
- Support the continuous improvement and development of estate agriculture and plantation activities
Requirements
- Qualification in Agriculture, Plantation Management, Agribusiness, Horticulture, or a related field is preferred
- Strong practical agricultural or plantation experience will also be an advantage
- Practical knowledge of crop cultivation, plant care, soil management, fertilizing, irrigation, and basic crop protection
- Experience in an estate, farm, plantation, nursery, or similar environment is an advantage
- Ability to coordinate and supervise field workers effectively
- Good observation, organization, problem-solving, and record-keeping skills
- Basic computer literacy is an advantage
- Ability to communicate effectively with management and workers
- Physically fit and able to undertake working outdoors and carrying out regular field inspections
- Responsible, trustworthy, hardworking, self-motivated, and willing to take ownership of duties
