We are looking for a dedicated and experienced culinary professional to join Villa Lana as our Villa Chef and lead the delivery of exceptional dining experiences for our guests. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with a passion for premium hospitality, creativity and attention to detail, with the ability to create memorable stays through personalised menus, high-quality cuisine and outstanding service standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Take full responsibility for the overall operation and management of the Villa Lana kitchen, ensuring efficient workflow and consistently high culinary standards.
  • Prepare exceptional quality meals for up to 12-14 guests, including breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks and special occasions, while maintaining excellent taste, presentation and service standards.
  • Create diverse menus featuring Sri Lankan and international cuisine, while adapting dishes to guests preferences, dietary requirements, allergies and special requests.
  • Interact professionally with guests to understand their culinary preferences and provide personalised dining experiences tailored to individual requirements.
  • Manage, train and supervise supporting kitchen staff, ensuring teamwork, discipline and consistent performance.
  • Oversee menu planning, food procurement and kitchen management, including cost management and control and wastage reduction and management for efficient food cost management.
  • Maintain exceptional standards of food, presentation, hygiene, cleanliness and kitchen safety in line with hospitality industry requirements.
  • Ensure the kitchen, equipment and storage areas are well-organised, properly maintained and always prepared for daily operations.
  • Collaborate closely with the Villa Manager, owners and villa team to deliver seamless guest experiences and continuously enhance Villa Lana's reputation as a premium luxury hospitality destination.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Recognised culinary qualification or equivalent culinary professional experience, with a minimum of 4 years' experience as a Chef in luxury villas, boutique hotels, restaurants or five-star hospitality environments.
  • Strong knowledge of Sri Lankan and international cuisine, with proven experience preparing diverse menus for international guests while maintaining exceptional food quality and presentation standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in English and, ideally, Tamil, with the ability to interact professionally with guests, team members and suppliers.
  • Creative, organised and service-focused individual with strong leadership skills, attention to detail, food hygiene knowledge and the ability to work calmly under pressure while maintaining consistently high standards.
