Safety Officers / Assistant Safety Officers – Civil Construction
Join a leading public listed company with over 40 years of excellence in telecommunication, electrical, water, and civil engineering projects across Sri Lanka. Due to the expansion of our civil and water project division, we are looking for energetic and experienced Safety Officers / Assistant Safety Officers to join our team on a large civil construction project.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct daily site safety inspections and hazard assessments, ensuring compliance with local regulations and company safety standards.
- Develop, implement, and monitor site-specific safety plans, including emergency response procedures.
- Lead toolbox talks, safety briefings, and training sessions to keep safety top-of-mind for all workers and subcontractors.
- Investigate incidents, near-misses, and unsafe conditions, and recommend corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate safety records, reports, and documentation for audits and compliance checks.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and site supervisors to integrate safety into every stage of construction.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience 2+ years as a Safety Officer (OHS) in civil construction projects.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of construction safety regulations, risk assessment methods, and incident investigation procedures.
- Excellent communication skills to engage and influence workers at all levels.
- A proactive, detail-oriented mindset with the ability to anticipate and prevent hazards before they occur.
Salary: Negotiable, based on experience and qualifications.
