Role Summary

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Assistant Commercial Manager to lead and manage regulatory compliance activities related to product imports and certifications. This role plays a critical part in ensuring timely product registrations, laboratory testing, statutory approvals, and compliance with Sri Lankan regulatory requirements while supporting operational efficiency and business continuity.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end regulatory compliance for imported electrical and electronic products, including statutory approvals, certifications, registrations, compliance planning for new products, and monitoring regulatory changes.
• Coordinate with overseas suppliers to obtain technical specifications, declarations, test reports, product samples, and certification documents.
• Oversee product testing, certification, and approval processes through regulatory bodies such as SLSI, SLSEA, NERD, LECO, TRCSL, and other accredited authorities.
• Provide regulatory guidance and collaborate with cross-functional teams including Product Management, Sourcing, Engineering, Supply Chain, Logistics, Finance, Customs Brokers, and Warehousing.
• Drive compliance governance and continuous improvement initiatives by maintaining certification records, developing compliance dashboards, and reducing approval lead times and costs.

Requirements/Qualifications

• 5–8 years of experience in Commercial Operations, Regulatory Compliance, Procurement, Supply Chain, or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of Sri Lankan import regulations, SLSI certification procedures, SLSEA energy labelling, TRCSL approvals, customs procedures, and product testing methodologies.
• Experience handling imported electrical and electronic appliances is a distinct advantage.
• Proven experience in managing supplier relationships and coordinating with overseas manufacturers, testing laboratories, and regulatory authorities.
• Sound understanding of ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Dynamics, or similar platforms) and commercial procurement processes.
• Strong analytical, planning, negotiation, project management, and stakeholder management skills.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and leadership abilities.
