Community Engagement Specialist

Role Summary

Position: Community Coordinator (Community Mobilizer)

Organization: VILUTHU

Reporting To: Head of Programmes / Senior Programme Advisor

Expected Start Date: 1 August 2026

Location

• Mannar District (02): Manthai West and Mannar DS Division
• Puttalam District (02): Thillaiyadi, Wannathivillu (Sinhala-speaking preferred)
• Trincomalee District (02): Seruvila (Sinhala-speaking preferred), Muthur and town

Key Responsibilities

• Support community groups.
• Facilitate training and awareness programmes.
• Raise awareness on legal rights and government support.
• Promote women's participation.
• Maintain beneficiary records.
• Support referrals.
• Coordinate with government and NGOs.
• Prepare donor reports.

Requirements/Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Sociology, social work, or a relevant field.
• Minimum two years' experience in community development with vulnerable communities.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word and Excel).
• Proficiency in Tamil and English (Sinhala is an added advantage).
• Experience working with Government Officers at Divisional and District levels.
• Strong communication, report writing, coordination, stakeholder engagement, and training facilitation skills.

Salary/Benefits

Salary: LKR 40,000–50,000 per month (Negotiable, depending on qualifications and experience).
