Project Manager - On Contract

The Job/Responsibilities:
- Plan, manage, and coordinate IT projects throughout their lifecycle, from initiation to closure, ensuring delivery within approved scope, timelines, budgets, quality standards, and governance requirements.
- Develop and maintain project charters, plans, schedules, budgets, risk registers, issue logs, status reports, and other project documentation to support effective project planning, monitoring, control, and governance.
- Manage project risks, issues, and changes; identify, assess, and mitigate significant deviation and matters requiring management attention to ensure timely resolution and effective project delivery.
- Facilitate project meetings, steering committee updates, vendor coordination meetings, and stakeholder review sessions to ensure effective communication, coordination, progress monitoring, and stakeholder engagement.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including project teams, business analysts, and other stakeholders involved in the project to work collaboratively and successfully achieve project goals within the scope.
- Monitor project compliance with applicable procurement, information security, change management, testing, deployment, audit, and compliance requirements to support IT projects supporting compliant and controlled delivery.
- Support user acceptance testing, production deployment, handover, user training, post-implementation review, and benefits realization activities to facilitate smooth transition to operations and achievement of intended benefits.
- Apply appropriate project management methodologies, including waterfall, agile, or hybrid, approaches, based on the project requirements and characteristics, to support effective project delivery.
- Develop contingency plans to address potential challenges arising from different risk factors to safeguarding project objectives.
Required Minimum Qualifications & Experience:
Educational/Professional Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Engineering (in an Information Technology related discipline), Project Management, Business Management or a similar field obtained from a local or foreign University, recognized by the University Grants Commission of Sri Lanka.
- Professional qualifications in project management – Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from PMI or PRINCE2 from AXELOS/PeopleCert.
Experience:
- Minimum of five (5) years of post-qualification experience in managing or coordinating IT projects, software development projects, infrastructure projects, system implementation projects, or digital transformation initiatives.
- Experience in project planning, stakeholder coordination, vendor coordination, progress monitoring, risk issue management, and project documentation.
- Experience in banking, financial services, government, or other regulated enterprise environments will be an added advantage.
Preferred Professional Qualifications:
- PMI-ACP, Certified Scrum Master (CSM), and Professional Scrum Master (PSM) certifications will be an added advantage.
