Job Summary
The selected candidate will be responsible for managing and controlling credit risk, assessing customer creditworthiness, managing accounts receivable, and ensuring timely debt recovery for Alumex PLC. The role involves coordinating with sales teams, monitoring customer credit profiles, and implementing effective collection strategies to optimize cash flow while maintaining strong customer relationships.
The main job functions of this position will include:
- Assess the creditworthiness of new and existing customers before extending or amending credit facilities and payment terms.
- Set and recommend appropriate credit limits and payment terms in accordance with the Company's Credit Policy and Delegation of Authority.
- Review customer credit status and approve or hold sales orders within delegated authority and approved credit terms.
- Monitor customer receivable ageing reports and proactively follow up on overdue customer balances within agreed credit terms.
- Negotiate appropriate payment plans with customers experiencing financial difficulties and monitor compliance with agreed arrangements.
- Identify customer accounts requiring intensified recovery action and coordinate with internal stakeholders and external legal advisors when legal action is necessary.
- Reconcile customer accounts and coordinate with customers and internal departments to resolve invoice disputes and payment discrepancies.
- Work closely with Sales teams to maintain an appropriate balance between revenue growth and acceptable credit risk.
- Support the onboarding of new accounts by ensuring all required credit documentation is completed and verified.
- Prepare and review regular reports on accounts receivable, ageing, debt collection, performance, and credit exposure management.

- Bachelor's degree in accountancy/financial management or Full or Partial professional qualification in CIMA, CA, ACCA.
- Minimum 3 to 4 years of hands-on experience in credit control, accounts receivable management, or a similar role within finance.
- Credit risk assessment and financial analysis expertise with strong knowledge of credit policies and procedures.
- Excellent accounts receivable and collection management skills with proven ability to negotiate and recover outstanding debts.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability with effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Conflict management skills and the ability to manage difficult customer situations diplomatically.
- Ability to work independently and make decisions within delegated authority.
- High level of integrity, confidentiality, and meticulous attention to detail, particularly with financial data.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Good verbal and written proficiency in English and Sinhala; Tamil language proficiency will be an advantage.
- Ability to balance commercial requirements with financial discipline.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications, particularly Excel and Outlook; experience with accounting software will be an advantage.
