Data Platform Engineer

Role Summary: Our US-based client is seeking Data Platform Engineers to join its team in Sri Lanka.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Monitor and support Microsoft SQL Server, Azure SQL Database, and related Azure data platform services.
• Monitor database availability, performance, storage, backups, scheduled processes, telemetry collection, and overall platform health.
• Assist with T-SQL troubleshooting, query tuning, indexing, statistics maintenance, backup validation, restores, and routine database maintenance.
• Monitor, classify, and investigate alerts using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Application Insights, and other operational tools.
• Follow approved runbooks, maintain incident tickets, communicate status, provide complete shift handoffs, and escalate critical or unresolved issues.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• 2–3 years of experience supporting SQL Server, Azure SQL, data platforms, or similar systems.
• Working knowledge of SQL Server administration, T-SQL, database monitoring, troubleshooting, backup and recovery, and performance analysis.
• Experience following operational runbooks, documenting incidents, performing first-level troubleshooting, and escalating issues appropriately.
• Strong proactive communicator with AI fluency and excellent English communication skills (both written and verbal) to collaborate directly with US-based teams.
