Data Privacy and Compliance Officer
Role Summary
Put your expertise to work in a role that strengthens data protection, supports regulatory compliance and promotes sound governance across the organisation. We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented professional to join Fairfirst as Executive – Data Protection & Compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the management of the company’s personal data protection programme under the guidance of the Data Protection Officer.
- Collaborate with Data Protection Champions across departments and branches to ensure effective coordination and consistent implementation.
- Identify and address gaps in data protection processes across the organisation.
- Coordinate and ensure the timely and accurate submission of Financial Intelligence Unit reports.
- Support the Compliance team with day-to-day operational activities.
- Track risk incidents, compliance breaches and control failures, ensuring timely resolution and accurate documentation.
- Maintain accurate records of compliance activities and regulatory submissions.
- Work closely with internal departments to embed data protection and compliance practices into daily operations.
Requirements/Qualifications
- Experience: 2–3 years of post-qualification experience in data protection, compliance or Financial Intelligence Unit reporting, including Anti-Money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism, preferably within the banking, finance or insurance sectors.
- Skills: Excellent attention to detail, strong communication, coordination, analytical and problem-solving skills, and a sound working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite.
- Attributes: Proven ability to plan, streamline and improve processes, and a strong commitment to maintaining accurate records and preparing reports.
- Preferred: A recognised professional certification in data protection or compliance would be an added advantage.
