Engineering Assistant (Grade III)

Role Summary

The Irrigation Department is recruiting 102 Engineering Assistants (Grade III) through an open competitive examination. This is a permanent and pensionable position.

Responsibilities

• Conducting preliminary investigations for irrigation, flood-water, and salt-water prevention schemes.
• Preparing drafts, civil engineering designs, plans, quantity surveys, and estimates.
• Managing procurement documents, machinery, fuel, and materials at field sites.
• Supervising work supervisors, technical aides, and field staff.

Qualifications/Requirements

• Education: G.C.E (O/L) with 6 subjects including Sinhala/Tamil, English, Mathematics, and Science. G.C.E (A/L) in relevant science/math streams.
• Vocational: NVQ Level 06 certificate in Civil/Irrigation Engineering from a recognized institute (e.g., Irrigation Training Institute, University of Moratuwa, SLIATE).
• Age: 18 to 30 years.
• Citizenship: Must be a citizen of Sri Lanka with excellent moral character.
