Environmental Scientist

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in the field of Environmental Science / Environmental Management / Environmental Technology recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC), Sri Lanka.
  • Minimum of one (01) year post-qualification relevant experience in Public Service / Corporation / Statutory Board / Institution / Non-State Institution.
  • And Membership / Higher Level of Membership of Institute of Environmental Professionals, Sri Lanka (IEPSL).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for carrying out, coordinating with other relevant agencies (government, private, etc.), supervising and guiding staff.
  • Preparation of plans and reports including Impact Assessment (EIA, etc.) as per required standards and specified guidelines.
  • Studies and investigations of recent trends in environmental fields based on required standards.
  • Studies and investigations of recent trends in environmental studies conducted by the Bureau.
  • Monitoring of air, water and noise pollution.
  • Sampling plans for monitoring of air, water quality and other environmental studies.
  • Inspection of monitoring sites.
  • Any other duties assigned by the supervising officers.

Technical Assistant (Laboratory Works)

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Having passed the G.C.E (O/L) examination in Six (06) Subjects, including Sinhala/Tamil and English is not more than two (02) sittings, including Sinhala/Tamil, English and Mathematics.
  • And having passed three subjects (other than the General key at the G.C.L) examination including Physics and Chemistry or not in more than two sittings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting in the daily works of Laboratory Engineer / Scientist / Chemist to carry out their duties and functions.
  • Responsible for the laboratory and in-vitro testing, recording and maintenance of test reports.
  • Maintaining the confidentiality of the results and records as required by the organization.
  • Supervising, coordinating and training the laboratory staff in performing their duties, in day to day works and in laboratory management.
  • Studying the relevant standards / specifications / codes and relevant procedures for testing and carrying out laboratory examinations.
  • Any other duties assigned by the supervising officer.

Laboratory Technician

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Having passed the G.C.E (O/L) examination in Six (06) Subjects not in more than two sittings, including Sinhala/Tamil, English and Mathematics.
  • And successful completion of a Certificate Course not below NNVQ Level 4 in the relevant field conducted by an Institution recognized by the Technical and Vocational Education Commission (TVEC) or having passed three subjects (other than the general paper at the G.C.L) examination including Chemistry and Physics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Keeping laboratory in neat and clean condition.
  • Safe handling of laboratory chemicals, equipment and materials.
  • Assisting in laboratory testing, recording and maintenance of test reports.
  • Handling, Preparing, Storing, and Disposing of the test samples in proper manner.
  • Transporting, setting up, operation and maintenance of equipment.
