Role Summary

A growing travel company is looking for a competent, commercially minded, and responsible Finance Manager to take charge of the company’s finance function.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the full finance and accounting function of the company.
  • Act as the custodian of the Finance Division and ensure proper financial controls are maintained.
  • Prepare monthly management accounts, financial reports, budget comparisons, cash flow forecasts, and variance analysis.
  • Monitor company budgets and ensure expenditure is properly controlled.
  • Review marketing expenditure and evaluate whether such spending is aligned with sales performance and business results.
  • Regularly advise the Managing Director on financial performance, cost control, cash flow, sales trends, and areas requiring management attention.
  • Monitor purchasing costs, supplier pricing, and market trends to ensure the company receives best value.
  • Handle treasury management, including cash flow planning, bank balances, fund requirements, payments, collections, and working capital management.
  • Ensure effective manpower utilisation by reviewing payroll-related costs and advising management where improvements are required.
  • Maintain strict control over receivables, payables, supplier payments, petty cash, and bank reconciliations.
  • Ensure all statutory payments, taxes, EPF/ETF, VAT, income tax, and other regulatory obligations are completed on time without penalties.
  • Coordinate with auditors, tax consultants, banks, and relevant authorities.
  • Maintain proper documentation, internal controls, approval procedures, and financial discipline.
  • Support management with budgeting, forecasting, cost-saving initiatives, and business planning.
  • Promote a proactive working attitude within the finance function, with the understanding that “tomorrow is not merely an extension of today” and that continuous improvement is essential.

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Fully or partly qualified in Accounting, Finance, CA, CIMA, ACCA, AAT, CMA, or equivalent.
  • Candidates who are partly qualified but have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a related field, including experience in a senior finance/accounting position, will be considered.
  • Previous experience in the travel, tourism, hospitality, or service industry will be an added advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting, taxation, statutory compliance, treasury management, budgeting, and cost control.
  • Ability to question figures, analyse business performance, and provide practical recommendations to management.
  • Good knowledge of MS Excel and accounting systems.
  • High level of integrity, responsibility, accuracy, confidentiality, and professionalism.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership in a small-company environment.
