Role Summary

DPO Lanka (Private) Limited is a growing food distribution company seeking a passionate and driven Food Technologist to support product development, application, and technical services while working with cross-functional teams.

Job Purpose

To support sales activity by conducting product evaluation and analysis, developing formulations, and preparing prototypes and finished products across various applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop application formulations, prepare prototypes, and identify opportunities to scale products using appropriate manufacturing processes, ingredients, and technologies.
  • Conduct product evaluation, analysis, and organoleptic (sensory) testing to ensure product quality, performance, and consistency.
  • Estimate new product costs and prepare nutritional information and product specification sheets for commercial use.
  • Improve existing formulations and provide solutions for ingredient replacement based on market trends and customer needs.
  • Troubleshoot customer issues and address technical concerns related to ingredient applications and product performance.
  • Analyze R&D findings and communicate insights effectively to relevant personnel and sales teams.
  • Work closely with Sales, Production, and Marketing teams to build relationships with suppliers and customers and support product demonstrations and food styling.
  • Conduct in-house shelf life testing, prepare application reports, and manage laboratory equipment, ingredients, and technical databases.
  • Carry out any other tasks and duties as assigned by the superior or management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or equivalent from a recognised institution.
