Executive - International Supplier Development

Role Summary

We are seeking a motivated Executive - International Supplier Development to identify, evaluate and develop reliable sources for spices, ingredients and processing inputs from local and international markets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop relationships with manufacturers and suppliers in Sri Lanka and overseas, particularly in India, China and Southeast Asia.
  • Source selected raw materials, ingredients and processing inputs required by the company.
  • Obtain and evaluate quotations, product samples, specifications, CoAs, TDSs, SDSs, declarations and certification documents.
  • Compare suppliers and negotiate based on quality, price, MOQ, lead time, payment terms and reliability.
  • Maintain an up-to-date supplier and product database.
  • Support landed-cost calculations, import documentation, logistics coordination and follow-ups on corrective-action.

Requirements

  • A degree, diploma or professional qualification in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business, Food Science, Chemistry or a related discipline.
  • At least 1 year of experience in international sourcing, procurement, imports or a related role.
  • Experience in sourcing raw materials or technical products for the food, pharmaceutical, chemical, cosmetic or manufacturing sectors.
  • Experience communicating with foreign manufacturers and suppliers.
  • Ability to understand and compare technical specifications, supplier quotations and quality documents.
  • Knowledge of import procedures, Incoterms, international logistics and shipping.
  • Strong research, negotiation, analytical and communication skills, together with proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • High standards of confidentiality and integrity.

Preferred Candidate Attributes

  • Existing supplier or industry contacts in India, China or other Asian markets.
  • Experience dealing directly with manufacturers and obtaining development samples.
  • Ability to coordinate effectively with technical, quality, production, sales & marketing and logistics teams.
  • A persistent and systematic approach to supplier follow-up.
