Ground Support Equipment Operator

Role Summary: Operate required Ground Support Equipment (Motorized / Non-Motorized) and provide all required ground support services efficiently and effectively to achieve on time performance in compliance with standard safety procedures on Domestic and International flights handled by AASL.

  • Deliver incoming baggage to arrival baggage belts as per instructions and according to class wise, first bag/last bag timings as applicable without any delays.
  • Deliver transfer baggage to the transfer baggage sorting area on priority basis in order to expedite transfer activities within allowed time frame.
  • Ensure serviceability of all ground service equipment, due to taking over and prior to the operational requirement keeping adequate time frame.
  • If found any fault in any equipment keep inform to the relevant superiors and liaise/arrange with technical staff to repair and make them to a serviceable condition.
  • Determine the driving time to the departure stand, safe and timely transportation of joining baggage to respective aircraft to ensure finalizing of loading within time limits.
  • Ensure that all equipment, any baggage trolleys/dollies and ULDs being used are serviceable and available at the aircraft site prior to the arrival.
  • Make sure all Ground Support Equipment (GSE) is positioned well clear of the aircraft path, outside the Equipment Restraint Area (ERA).
  • Ensure Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) and the Uniform provided by the AASL available and ready.
  • Prior to arrival of the aircraft, make sure there are sufficient serviceable safety cones to protect the aircraft, the required numbers of serviceable chocks are available and ensure free from Foreign Object Debris (FODs).
  • Operate Ground Support Equipment such as Ground Power Unit, Air Conditioning Unit, Air Starter Unit, and Water/ Toilet Servicing Units on time in order to fulfill the requirements of domestic and International Aircrafts.
  • Maintenance and Daily/Periodic operational checks of equipment to be taken care/clean in order to ensure safety at operations and to improve the serviceability of equipment.
  • Obey all applicable driving rules and regulations as applicable to AASL.
  • Ensure that the execution of all assigned job tasks are performed in a manner which safeguards organizational information assets and maintain compliance with the AASL Standards and Procedures.
  • Attend to any other relevant responsibilities assigned by Head of the Division or an authorized officer.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Should have Passed GCE (O/L) in Six (06) subjects.
  • Valid Heavy Vehicle Driving License.
  • Fair Knowledge of Handling Ground Support Equipment.
  • 10 years overall experience of which 05 years as Aircraft Equipment Operator experience.
  • Age should be below 50 years at the closing date of applications.
  • Good written and spoken communication skills in English and Sinhala are required. Conversant in Tamil Language will be an added advantage.
