Group Director of Internal Audit, Risk and Compliance
HEAD OF GROUP INTERNAL AUDIT, RISK & COMPLIANCE
Our client, a leading publicly listed manufacturing group in Sri Lanka, is seeking an accomplished audit and risk professional to join its leadership team as the Head of Group Internal Audit, Risk & Compliance.
Responsibilities
- Lead and execute the annual risk-based Group Internal Audit Plan across the Group's manufacturing operations and subsidiaries.
- Provide independent quarterly reports to the Audit Committee on control deficiencies, material risks, fraud exposure, and remediation progress.
- Oversee the Group Risk Register and identify, assess, and monitor key manufacturing and operational risks.
- Support management in establishing risk appetite statements and implementing effective risk mitigation strategies.
- Ensure compliance with the Companies Act No. 07 of 2007, CSE Listing Rules, SEC regulations, and other applicable statutory requirements.
- Evaluate internal controls over financial reporting in line with SLFRS and LKAS requirements, while working closely with external auditors.
- Act as the custodian of the Group's Whistleblowing and Anti-Bribery policies and conduct independent investigations where required.
- Lead, mentor, and maximise the effectiveness of a lean internal audit team through risk-based and data-driven audit methodologies.
Requirements
- Active member or Fellow of CA Sri Lanka. Equivalent global qualifications such as ACCA or CIMA will be considered alongside proven experience in local public-listed compliance.
- Bachelor's degree in Accountancy, Finance, Business Management, or a related discipline.
- CIA or CISA qualification will be an added advantage.
- Minimum of 8–10 years of post-qualification experience in Internal Audit, Risk Management, or External Audit, with at least 3 years in a senior or managerial capacity.
- Experience within a manufacturing or heavy export industry will be strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of corporate governance, risk management, internal controls, regulatory compliance, and financial reporting frameworks.
- Excellent analytical, leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Candidates must maintain the required level of independence and should not have held direct operational or financial management responsibilities within the Group or its affiliates during the past two years.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive internal audit plan to evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls, risk management, and governance processes.
- Conduct regular audits across various business units to ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Identify and assess potential risks to the organization and provide recommendations for mitigation.
- Monitor and report on the status of audit findings and ensure timely implementation of corrective actions.

Requirements/Qualifications
- Professional qualification in Accounting or Auditing (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or CIA).
- A minimum of 10-12 years of experience in internal audit, risk management, or compliance, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
- Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
- In-depth knowledge of international auditing standards, risk management frameworks, and regulatory requirements.
- Ability to work independently and interact effectively with all levels of management.
