Chief Pharmacist (Senior Manager Grade)

We are seeking an experienced, dynamic, and results-oriented Chief Pharmacist to lead and oversee all pharmacy operations across our hospital. This is a strategic leadership role responsible for ensuring clinical excellence, operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, revenue growth, and exceptional patient care across all pharmacy services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and overall management of:
    • In-Patient Pharmacy
    • Out-Patient Pharmacy
    • Retail Pharmacy Operations
    • Pharmacy Stores & Inventory Management
  • Drive operational excellence while ensuring the highest standards of patient safety and pharmaceutical care.
  • Develop and implement pharmacy strategies aligned with the organization's clinical and business objectives.
  • Manage and optimize pharmacy revenue, profitability, cost control, and financial performance.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement continuous quality improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory, legal, accreditation, and professional standards.
  • Lead procurement planning, inventory optimization, stock control, and wastage reduction initiatives.
  • Collaborate closely with medical consultants, nursing, finance, procurement, and other multidisciplinary teams to enhance patient outcomes and operational efficiency.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop pharmacy managers and staff while fostering a high-performance culture.
  • Drive digital transformation, process improvements, and innovation within pharmacy services.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) or equivalent qualification recognized by the relevant regulatory authority.
  • A postgraduate qualification (Master's degree/MBA/MSc or equivalent) will be a distinct advantage.
  • Registered Pharmacist with the relevant professional regulatory authority.
  • Minimum of 10 years' progressive experience in hospital pharmacy, including at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing hospital pharmacy operations, retail pharmacy services, pharmacy stores, budgeting, and revenue performance.
  • Strong knowledge of hospital pharmacy regulations, quality standards, inventory management, and financial management.
  • Proven leadership, strategic planning, people management, negotiation, communication, and decision-making skills.
