About DLFF and the Programme

The Dutch-Lanka Friendship Foundation (DLFF) is a registered INGO headquartered in Ampara, working since 2005 to improve the lives of children, families and persons with disabilities in the Eastern Province. DLFF is launching a new Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation Programme (DPRP) with international partners who have implemented this model in Nepal and other countries. Through working with the government health system, the programme prevents avoidable disabilities, identifies them early, and connects persons with disabilities to treatment, rehabilitation and assistive devices.

The Role

As the programme's main link with the health sector, you will help make disability prevention and rehabilitation part of routine health services.

  • Coordinate with the Ministry of Health, RDHS, MOH offices, hospitals, doctors and Public Health Midwives.
  • Strengthen antenatal, delivery and early childhood practices, and early identification of disabilities.
  • Establish referral pathways and follow up to ensure people receive treatment, therapy or assistive devices.
  • Organise trainings for health workers, prepare MoUs and represent DLFF at health coordination meetings.
  • Support the baseline survey, data collection, monitoring and reporting.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A degree in a health care related field (nursing, public health, physiotherapy, health sciences or similar), or relevant health sector experience.
  • Good understanding of Sri Lanka's public health system, with confidence working with doctors and officials.
  • Fluency in Sinhala and/or Tamil and good working English; willingness to travel within the Eastern Province.
  • Experience in maternal and child health, disability or community-based programmes is an advantage.
