Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Officer

The HSE Officer (Compliance Officer – HSE) will be responsible for supporting the implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of Health, Safety, and Environmental compliance across construction project sites. This role includes conducting site inspections, ensuring adherence to regulatory and international HSE standards, identifying non-compliances, and supporting risk mitigation initiatives to promote a safe and environmentally responsible working environment.
Job Responsibilities
- Support the implementation and monitoring of the Environmental Management System (EMS) – ISO 14001, and the Occupational Health & Safety Management System (OHSMS) – ISO 45001.
- Identify gaps, recommend improvements, and follow up on corrective and preventive actions.
- Assist in developing and updating HSE policies, procedures, and construction site operational controls.
- Prepare HIRA (Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment) documentation.
- Develop Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) for construction and installation activities.
- Prepare site-specific HSE plans.
- Conduct regular site inspections, safety walk-downs, and compliance checks.
- Monitor the implementation of safety measures and ensure adherence to legal and internal requirements.
- Collect, track, and analyse environmental and safety data including incidents, near misses, waste generation, resource usage, and other HSE KPIs.
- Prepare internal HSE performance reports and support regulatory submissions.
- Collaborate with project teams, engineers, and internal divisions to ensure strong HSE compliance across all construction sites.
- Coordinate with external auditors, consultants, and regulatory authorities.
- Support HSE awareness sessions, toolbox talks, and training programmes.
Candidate Profile
- Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety (OHS).
- A Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, Sustainability, BTech Engineering, Environmental Technology, or a related field will be considered an added advantage.
- Minimum of 2 years' HSE experience specifically within the construction industry (mandatory).
