Are you a relationship builder with a passion for the maritime industry? This is an opportunity to play a key role in connecting our Deck and Engine Cadets with leading shipowners, ship managers and crewing companies, while building long-term industry partnerships that create career opportunities for future maritime professionals.
You will take ownership of the cadet placement journey, from developing employer relationships and securing training berths to coordinating cadet joining, monitoring their progress and strengthening partnerships for future placements.
What You Will Do
- Build and maintain strong relationships with shipowners, ship managers, crewing companies and maritime industry stakeholders locally and internationally.
- Identify and secure new and recurring onboard training berths for Deck and Engine Cadets.
- Develop a strong pipeline of industry partners and create opportunities for long-term placement commitments and partnerships.
- Represent the Academy professionally when engaging with senior industry and crewing personnel.
- Coordinate employer meetings, cadet interviews, selection programmes and placement arrangements.
- Ensure cadets are placement-ready, working closely with academic and training teams on qualifications, STCW requirements, medical fitness and documentation.
- Manage the placement process from nomination and pre-joining preparation through onboard monitoring and post-voyage follow-up.
- Maintain regular engagement with placed cadets and employers to address welfare, safety, performance or training-related concerns.
- Monitor cadet sea-time, evaluations, training records and completion requirements.
- Use employer feedback and placement data to continuously improve cadet preparation, training and employability.
- Prepare regular reports on placements, berths secured, industry partnerships and cadet progress.
What We Expect From You
- A Degree, Diploma or professional qualification in Maritime Studies, Shipping, HR, Business Administration or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in crewing, maritime recruitment, cadet training, ship operations or maritime education.
- Good understanding of STCW requirements, cadet training and maritime recruitment/crewing processes.
- Strong industry connections with shipowners, ship managers or crewing companies would be a distinct advantage.
- Seagoing experience or a Certificate of Competency as a Deck or Engineer Officer would be an added advantage.
- Strong English communication, presentation, negotiation and relationship management skills.
- Commercial mindset with the ability to identify opportunities, build partnerships and secure placements.
- Strong organisational skills with high attention to documentation, compliance and follow-through.
- Ability to engage confidently with cadets as well as senior maritime and industry stakeholders.
- Willingness to travel locally and internationally when required.
