Commis I - Chinese

Role Summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a Commis I to join Cinnamon Life at City of Dreams, part of Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts, Sri Lanka’s largest hotel owner with a portfolio of 17 hotels and resorts in Sri Lanka and the Maldives. It is a member of John Keells Holdings PLC, one of the largest listed conglomerates in Sri Lanka.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation and cooking of Chinese dishes in accordance with established recipes and quality standards
• Ensure timely mise en place and service readiness for daily operations and events
• Maintain food safety, hygiene, and HACCP compliance at all times
• Support stock monitoring, proper storage, and minimization of wastage
• Follow guidance from senior chefs to ensure consistency in flavour, presentation, and portion control
• Maintain a clean, organised workstation and adhere to kitchen operational standards

Requirements/Qualifications

• 1-2 years of experience in a similar role within a hotel or reputed restaurant specializing in Chinese cuisine
• Basic knowledge of authentic cooking techniques, ingredients, and kitchen operations related to the respective cuisine
• Understanding of food safety and hygiene standards
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
• Team-oriented with good time management and reliability
