Salty Swamis Cafe & Surf Shop (Pvt) Ltd
We are seeking an enthusiastic and hardworking Commis 2 or 3 for our cafe in Arugam Bay. Reporting to the Head Chef, your role will cover the responsibilities of food preparation, station management as well as stock keeping. You need to be accustomed to working in a FAST paced environment catering to an average of 200 pax for breakfast and lunch.
You should be able to maintain a hygienic kitchen and ensure stock rotation and minimum wastage is followed at all times. Previous experience of 1-2 years in a similar setting is an advantage and a firm grasp of English and Sinhala is needed.
Responsibilities include
- Prepare, cook and finish dishes for your assigned section with minimal supervision
- Ensuring menus, food standards, procedures and processes are followed according to our established standards
- Keep workstations clean, organized and compliant with all food safety laws as well as ensuring all equipment is maintained, serviced and cleaned.
- Monitor station inventory levels and proactively communicate ordering needs to the head chef.

- Ability to maintain consistency during busy service periods
- Have food stock control and ordering knowledge
- Solid understanding of food safety, kitchen sanitation and labeling protocols
- Be extremely hygienic and presentable
