JUNIOR TEA TASTER

BARARI CEYLON TEAS (PVT) LTD is seeking a motivated and skilled Junior Tea Taster to join our tea operations team. The ideal candidate will have strong practical knowledge of tea tasting and grading, together with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced tea room environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Conduct professional tea tasting and quality evaluation of incoming and processed teas.
• Carry out tea grading and assess quality characteristics in accordance with company standards.
• Review and maintain tea catalogues, samples and related quality information.
• Support activities related to online tea auctions, including sample evaluation and quality selection.
• Coordinate closely with the Tea Room and production teams to maintain consistent quality and workflow.
• Assist in identifying quality variations and communicate observations clearly to the relevant tea team members.

REQUIREMENTS

• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in tea tasting / tea grading.
• Good practical knowledge of Ceylon tea types, grades and quality characteristics.
• Sound knowledge of tea grading, tea catalogues and online tea auction procedures.
• Strong sensory evaluation skills with good attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively as part of a tea room team.
• Good communication, discipline and a positive attitude towards learning and continuous improvement.
