Role Summary

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Laboratory Supervisor to lead our Quality Laboratory operations in a fast-paced automotive seat belt manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting and supervising laboratory testing activities, ensuring compliance with customer and regulatory requirements, maintaining laboratory equipment, and supporting continuous quality improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise, coordinate and conduct daily laboratory testing activities.
  • Ensure all inspection and testing are conducted in accordance with applicable standards, customer requirements, and internal procedures.
  • Maintain calibration, verification, and preventive maintenance schedules for laboratory equipment.
  • Review, analyze, and report test results accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Investigate test failures and support root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and/or IATF 16949 quality management system requirements.
  • Support internal and external audits.
  • Train, guide, and supervise laboratory technicians.
  • Maintain laboratory records, documentation, and test reports.
  • Coordinate with Quality, Production, Engineering, and Customer teams on product validation and quality-related issues.

Requirements/Qualifications

Laboratory Equipment Experience:

  • Hands-on experience operating and supervising testing using equipment such as: Tensile Testing Machines, Hardness Testers, Salt Spray Test Chambers, Abrasion Testers, Colour Fastness Testers, Extract/Retract Test Machines, G-Lock Testing Equipment, and other mechanical and environmental testing equipment used in automotive restraint systems.

Core Qualifications:

  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years' experience in a quality laboratory or testing environment, preferably in automotive.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001 or IATF 16949 quality management systems.
  • Previous experience with FMVSS and ECE R16 testing standards will be a distinct advantage.
  • Experience with Infor Syteline ERP system is an added advantage.
