Job Title: Land Officer
Division: General Secretariat
Location: Sarvodaya – Headquarters
Age: Below 47
Remuneration: Rs. 60,000 - Rs. 80,000
Specific Responsibilities
- Training & Succession: Work under direct supervision to absorb institutional knowledge, study land files, deeds, and survey plans, and assist in handover documentation.
- Land & Title Documentation: Help verify, update, and safeguard deeds, titles, and survey plans for all organization-held lands. Follow up on pending title transfers, leases, and gifts, and coordinate with notaries, surveyors, and government bodies.
- Legal Liaison: Work closely with the Legal Office regarding land disputes, encroachments, and litigation. Prepare briefs, factual reports, and follow up on legal opinions and court proceedings.
- Field & Site Duties: Perform site inspections to evaluate boundaries, occupancy, and encroachments (including photographic reporting) and assist licensed surveyors with land demarcation.
- Reporting & Risk Escalation: Draft periodic progress reports for the Hon. General Secretary and Executive Director, while swiftly flagging any urgent legal or land risks.
Key Qualifications
- Education: Diploma in Law, Land Management, Estate Management, Surveying, or a related field.
- Experience & Knowledge: 1-2 years of relevant experience preferred. Knowledge of Sri Lankan land laws, deeds, and title documentation is a distinct advantage.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office and structured, systematic record-keeping.
- Language & Communication: Good communication skills in Sinhala and English; knowledge of Tamil is an added advantage.
- Key Competencies: Excellent attention to detail, quick learning ability, high integrity, confidentiality, and alignment with Sarvodaya's principles and values.
- Mobility: Willingness to travel to various district field sites as required.
