Chief Motor Engineer - Amana Takaful PLC

Role Summary

Amana Takaful Insurance is seeking a highly experienced, dynamic, and results-oriented Chief Motor Engineer to lead our Motor Engineering Division. This is a strategic leadership position responsible for overseeing motor engineering operations, claims assessment standards, fraud detection initiatives, repair quality management, and technical support for the company's motor insurance portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Leadership: Manage the Motor Engineering Department, develop best-practice assessment procedures, provide technical guidance on complex claims, and monitor automotive technology advancements.
  • Operational Excellence: Monitor claim costs and repair trends, implement cost-control measures, improve turnaround times, and drive digital transformation.
  • Team Management: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Motor Engineers, Assessors, and Technical Officers; conduct performance evaluations and training.
  • Claims Assessment & Investigation: Oversee vehicle inspections, approve repair estimates and salvage assessments, investigate fraudulent claims, and conduct root-cause analysis.
  • Repair Network Management: Maintain relationships with garages and suppliers, evaluate repair facilities, conduct quality audits, and negotiate technical service agreements.

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automobile Engineering, Automotive Technology, or a related discipline.
  • Professional Engineering qualification is an added advantage.
  • Minimum 10–15 years of experience in motor engineering, vehicle assessment, or motor insurance claims.
  • Minimum 5 years of senior management experience in a motor insurance or related environment.
  • IAESL Fellowship Member.
  • Thorough knowledge of motor vehicle construction, repair methods, vehicle valuation, and accident damage assessment.
  • Strong understanding of motor insurance policy coverage and claims procedures.
  • Technical Competencies: Expertise in vehicle inspection, knowledge of hybrid/electric technologies, familiarity with estimating software, and strong report writing skills.
  • Soft Skills: Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities.
