Role Summary

The Operations Manager Marine & Civil Construction will be responsible for planning, directing, and overseeing the Company’s day-to-day operational activities to ensure the successful execution of marine and civil construction projects across Sri Lanka and the Maldives. The incumbent will provide leadership in project operations, resource planning, logistics, equipment utilization, and workforce management while ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with contractual, quality, and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide overall leadership and operational direction for marine and civil construction projects.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor operational strategies, work programmes, and resource plans.
  • Oversee project mobilization, execution, and demobilization.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers, Site Engineers, Technical Officers, Logistics, Procurement, and other support functions.
  • Monitor project schedules, productivity, budgets, and operational performance.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, company policies, engineering standards, quality requirements, and statutory regulations.
  • Lead operational planning meetings and provide strategic guidance to project teams.
  • Oversee plant, machinery, and equipment deployment to maximize efficiency.
  • Establish and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Ensure strict compliance with occupational health, safety, environmental, and quality management systems.
  • Review operational reports, project progress updates, cost analyses, and productivity reports.
  • Foster effective communication and collaboration among internal departments, clients, consultants, subcontractors, and regulatory authorities.
  • Identify operational risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Support business development initiatives by providing operational input during tender preparation, project planning, and feasibility assessments.
  • Mentor and develop project management teams.

Requirements / Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum 12 years of progressive experience in marine and civil construction operations, including at least 5 years in a senior management role overseeing multiple projects.
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related discipline. An MBA or postgraduate qualification will be an added advantage.
  • Age: 35 to 55 years.
  • Language: Fluent in English (written and spoken); Sinhala is essential and Tamil will be an added advantage.
  • Computer Skills: Proficient in MS Office Suite, Advanced Excel, MS Project, ERP systems, project management software, and operational reporting tools.
  • Key Competencies: Strong leadership, comprehensive knowledge of marine and civil construction operations, excellent organizational and resource management skills, strong commercial awareness, excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, and strong understanding of construction contracts and risk management.

Salary / Benefits

The successful candidates will be offered the opportunity to work on challenging and rewarding projects across Sri Lanka and the Maldives. A Starting Salary of 300,000 LKR.
