Hambantota International Port Group Private Limited (HIPG) is a public-private partnership between the Government of Sri Lanka and China Merchants Port Holdings, a world-renowned port operator with a significant presence in all aspects of the shipping and maritime industry.

Role Summary

This six-month career-focused industrial training program in the Engineering & Technology Management Department of Hambantota International Port provides practical experience and valuable industry exposure in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering within a dynamic port environment. Trainees will develop their technical knowledge, engineering skills, and workplace competencies through hands-on exposure to port equipment, engineering systems, maintenance, and related technical operations in a 24/7 operational environment, with potential employment opportunities based on performance, competency, and available vacancies upon successful completion of the program.

Role Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from a recognized university or higher education institution.
• Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply. Candidates with at least 6 months of relevant work experience, particularly in large-scale organizations, infrastructure projects, or development projects, will also be considered.
• Excellent team player, proven leadership to inspire and drive high performing teams to achieve company goals/objectives.
• Outgoing personality coupled up with good PR skills with key stakeholders. (Ex: clients, external parties, and port related authorities)
• Excellent communication & writing skills in English and master of Microsoft application packages like Excel & PowerPoint etc.

Salary/Benefits

A remuneration package on par with the industry standards will be offered on the selected candidate.
