Mechanical Design Engineer and Drafter
Role Summary
The Central Engineering Consultancy Bureau is inviting applications from citizens of Sri Lanka for the posts of Mechanical Engineer and Draughtsman on a Contract Basis.
Key Responsibilities
Mechanical Engineer:
- Carry out, coordinate, and supervise engineering tasks and staff.
- Assist in feasibility studies, site investigations, and project briefs.
- Advise on project financing and procurement systems.
- Develop design plans, ensure green technology adoption, and conduct preliminary investigations.
- Prepare tender documents and assist in tender procedures.
- Implement project monitoring systems for cost, quality, and safety.
- Manage project commissioning, handover, and contract closure.
- Provide managerial support and conduct Continuous Professional Development (CPD) for junior staff.
Draughtsman:
- Perform manual and Computer Aided Draughting (CAD) for engineering/architectural drawings and bills of quantities.
- Develop and modify 2D and 3D models using Revit, AutoCAD, and other software.
- Prepare as-built drawings and take site measurements.
- Acquire and disseminate knowledge on new drafting software and techniques.
- Supervise, guide, and train junior draughtsmen.
- Maintain systematic records of hard and soft copies of drawings.
Requirements/Qualifications
Mechanical Engineer:
- Qualification: Four-year Degree in Mechanical Engineering recognized by the UGC, IESL, and Engineering Council of Sri Lanka (or equivalent).
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years post-qualifying experience in a Public Service/Corporation/Statutory Board/recognized institution. Additional marks for experience in HVAC, fire protection, medical gas, elevators, BMS, and plumbing.
Draughtsman:
- Qualification: NVQ Level 5 (or Level 4) certificate in Drafting Technology/Engineering Draughtsmanship from a TVEC-accepted institute.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years post-qualifying experience in a Public Service/Corporation/Statutory Board/recognized institution.
Salary/Benefits
- Salary placement based on qualifications and experience.
- Contribution of 12% and 3% of salary to the Employees Provident Fund and Employees Trust Fund respectively.
