Role Summary

The FPA Sri Lanka is seeking an Online Outreach Worker on a contract basis to support the implementation of the National HIV Prevention Programme. The role involves online audience profiling, managing online messaging, and promoting HIV and STD prevention services through social networking sites and digital platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Online audience profiling and managing online messaging with clients.
  • Developing messages for outreach and reaching populations at risk of HIV prevention.
  • Promoting HIV and STD prevention messages on social networking sites and dating apps.
  • Managing the quality of messages communicated via social media platforms.
  • Motivating online users to undergo risk assessment.
  • Sharing information on convenient and cost-effective HIV and STD services.
  • Responding to client queries online and referring them to services as required.
  • Providing basic peer-counselor and person-centered support to health services clients.
  • Maintaining daily records of internet outreach activities.
  • Preparing reports on conversations among online users and documenting lessons learned.

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Passed the General Certificate of Education (Ordinary Level) examination in six (06) subjects including Sinhala/Tamil, English Language, Mathematics, and two other subjects.
  • At least one subject at the General Certificate of Education (Advanced Level) examination.
  • Secondary school qualification (G.C.E. A/L) is preferred.
  • A University Degree/Diploma in a discipline relevant to the job is preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience of working with key populations and/or in HIV/AIDS and STDs.
  • Knowledge of working on social networking sites and various internet-based forms of technology.
  • Computer literacy and data analytics knowledge.
  • Smartphone and internet savvy with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and internet communication tools.
  • Good communication skills, particularly in written English and Sinhala/Tamil.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively as a team player.
  • Ability to undertake independent and maintain confidentiality while carrying out assigned responsibilities.

Salary/Benefits

  • Recruitment will be on a contract basis.
  • The contract will be for a maximum of one year.
  • Salary will be in accordance with the agreement with the National STD/AIDS Control Programme and the employer.
  • The employer's contribution to EPF will be 12% and ETF will be 3% of the salary.
