Operations and Commercial Support Assistant General Manager
Role Summary
Harischandra Mills PLC is seeking a proactive and experienced Assistant General Manager – Administration & Commercial Support to oversee administration and commercial support functions, including employee engagement, welfare, transportation, security, stakeholder relations, and regulatory compliance, while ensuring efficient operations and a safe, productive work environment.
Location
This position is based in Matara.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead employee engagement initiatives and implement programmes that foster a positive, inclusive and high-performing workplace culture.
- Identify training and development needs, coordinate learning and induction programmes, and support employee capability development.
- Manage employee welfare activities, including grievance handling, medical and insurance support, accommodation, and employee benefit programmes.
- Oversee employee transportation, workplace security, and related service providers to ensure safe, efficient and compliant operations.
- Plan and coordinate Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, community engagement activities, and sustainability programmes.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with government authorities, local communities, media, and other external stakeholders.
- Oversee procurement administration, vendor management, contract administration, and ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare operational reports and management dashboards while driving continuous improvement across administration and commercial support functions.
Requirements/Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field (MBA or equivalent postgraduate qualification preferred).
- 12–15 years of experience in administration, operations, or facilities management, preferably in an international or overseas environment.
- Proven experience in employee engagement, welfare, transportation, security, CSR, public relations, and administrative operations.
- Strong stakeholder, vendor, and contract management skills with experience working across multiple locations and cultures.
- Sound knowledge of statutory compliance, sustainability practices, and corporate governance requirements.
- Excellent planning, problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
