Assistant Manager - Production

Role Summary

This role is responsible for leading day-to-day manufacturing operations within an assigned production block, ensuring compliance with GMP standards, quality requirements, and production schedules. The incumbent will be responsible for workforce management, maintaining operational excellence, and contributing to the achievement of departmental objectives while reporting directly to the Manager – Production.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee production teams and drive operational KPIs such as OEE, changeover efficiency, and manufacturing plan adherence.
• Ensure smooth execution of production activities.
• Review Batch Manufacturing Records (BMRs).
• Manage deviations and CAPAs.
• Coordinate with QA, Engineering, and Warehouse teams.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements/Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy, Chemistry, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 5–7 years of experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing, including 2–3 years in a supervisory role.
• Strong knowledge of GMP, BMRs, deviations, and CAPA management.
• Good understanding of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma principles, OEE, Kaizen, and continuous improvement practices.
• Proficiency in SAP B1, Microsoft Excel, and other relevant systems.
• Excellent communication skills in both English and Sinhala/Tamil.
• Ability to work independently and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
