Finance Officer (Project Accounting)

Mahaweli Consultancy Bureau is an organization under the purview of the Ministry of Irrigation providing Consultancy & Support Services for Local & International clients.

Requirements/Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or Business Administration.
• Professional qualification in AAT or part qualification in a recognized professional accounting body such as ICA or CIMA.
• Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in finance, accounting or project accounting.
• Experience in managing project budgets, grants, donor-funded projects or development-sector projects is a distinct advantage.
• Hands-on experience with ERP systems or accounting software (QuickBooks experience is a distinct advantage).

Key Responsibilities

• Budget preparation, implementation and monitoring.
• Financial reporting and analysis.
• Project cost allocation and cost tracking.
• Accounts payable and accounts receivable.
• General ledger maintenance and account reconciliations.
• Audit preparation and coordination.

Technical Skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
• Sound knowledge of financial management systems and accounting software.
• Ability to prepare accurate financial reports, budgets and forecasts.
• Good understanding of compliance requirements and donor regulations.
• Strong knowledge of accounting standards, financial reporting and budgeting principles.
