The Role

We are looking for a Portfolio Performance & Risk Analyst to independently monitor, analyse and compare the performance of multiple investment portfolios managed through different Sri Lankan brokers, including a margin trading portfolio. This is primarily an investment analytics, performance measurement and risk-monitoring role, rather than a trading or stock-picking position.

Key Responsibilities

• Consolidate transaction and portfolio statements from multiple brokers
• Reconcile purchases, sales, dividends, deposits, withdrawals, fees and balances
• Calculate monthly, YTD and since-inception portfolio returns
• Calculate and maintain TWR and XIRR performance measures
• Compare portfolio performance against ASPI and S&P SL20
• Compare performance between investment managers
• Analyse realised and unrealised gains/losses by security
• Measure volatility, beta, drawdowns and concentration risk
• Analyse sector and individual-stock exposures
• Track portfolio turnover, brokerage costs and other transaction costs
• Monitor margin exposure, financing costs and net equity
• Distinguish returns from stock selection vs leverage/market exposure
• Conduct basic performance attribution
• Produce a concise monthly portfolio performance and risk report
• Develop and maintain an Excel and/or Power BI investment dashboard

Ideal Candidate

• Degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Mathematics, Data Analytics or related field
• 2-5 years of relevant experience
• Strong understanding of the Colombo Stock Exchange and Sri Lankan equity market
• Strong Excel skills (essential)
• Experience with Power BI or similar tools (advantage)
• CFA qualification or CFA candidacy (advantage)
• Familiarity with portfolio performance measurement and risk metrics
• Analytical, independent and detail-oriented
• Ability to work with confidential financial information

• Location: Colombo, Sri Lanka / Hybrid
• Type: Part-time / Flexible
• Work Arrangement: The position can be structured as a part-time role or consultancy engagement, with flexibility depending on the candidate's experience.
