Senior Engineer - Business Intelligence

Location: HQ - Colombo, Sri Lanka

Design and build data transformation pipelines and workflows on Microsoft Fabric, including Dataflows and Fabric Warehouse
Design and build enterprise-level shared semantic models using strong data modelling principles, including star schema, fact and dimension design, and hierarchies
Define and maintain security roles and data access controls across shared semantic models, including country, station, and user-level permissions for reporting and integration requirements
Develop and maintain Power BI reports, dashboards, apps, and paginated reports that meet business and operational requirements
Manage Power BI administration tasks and optimise report performance
Support data governance practices by maintaining data dictionaries, enforcing standards, managing data elements, and ensuring data quality and lineage across BI assets
Lead and mentor junior BI Engineers by providing technical guidance, conducting code reviews, and establishing team standards
Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels, present data insights, and maintain consistent documentation standards

Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field
3-5 years of experience in Business Intelligence and Analytics
Strong Power BI skills with proficiency in DAX and Power Query (M) for data transformation and model preparation
Strong data modelling and data warehousing skills
Hands-on experience with Azure data tools, including Azure Data Factory, Azure Analysis Services, Azure Data Lake, and Azure SQL Server
Strong SQL skills, including complex queries, optimisation, and data manipulation
Experience with Python for scripting and data processing
Experience with Microsoft Fabric will be highly advantageous
Experience with Azure Databricks, PySpark, Delta Lake, and notebook-based workflows will be an added advantage
Knowledge of logistics or supply chain operations will be advantageous
Experience with advanced analytics, predictive modelling, or AI/ML integration in BI solutions will be an added advantage
Strong understanding of data governance principles
Excellent analytical thinking, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills
