Senior Earthing & Lightning Protection Design Engineer

Join our specialist engineering team and play a key technical role in the design and analysis of earthing, grounding and lightning protection systems for complex projects across multiple sectors.

Key Responsibilities

• Design earthing and lightning protection systems for complex electrical projects
• Carry out earthing studies and simulations using CDEGS
• Soil resistivity analysis and soil modelling
• Earth grid modelling including EPR/GPR, touch and step voltage assessments
• Fault current calculation and system performance analysis
• Lightning protection design, calculations and specifications
• Prepare engineering reports, calculations and technical documentation
• Provide technical guidance and review designs by other engineers
• Liaise with clients, consultants, contractors and other disciplines
• Ensure compliance with relevant standards and best practice

Essential Requirements

• Minimum 5 years’ relevant engineering experience
• Hands-on experience with CDEGS
• Strong understanding of earthing system design (soil modelling, fault current, EPR/GPR, touch & step voltage)
• Experience designing lightning protection systems
• Knowledge of IEC/EN 62305, BS 7430, IEEE 80, EN 50522 and other relevant standards
• Ability to produce high-quality technical reports and design documentation
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills
• Ability to manage and deliver technical work independently
