Senior BIM Modeller - Electrical | Power & Substations

Role Summary: Client: A reputed Dubai-based FMCG company operating in Sri Lanka.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain detailed, coordinated, and LOD-compliant BIM models for electrical infrastructure and substation projects.
• Produce general arrangement drawings, shop drawings, sections, schedules, and construction deliverables directly from BIM models.
• Perform clash detection, interference analysis, model coordination, and multidisciplinary issue resolution.
• Incorporate design changes, RFIs, site instructions, and as-built information into updated BIM models.
• Maintain model versions, revision control, metadata, file naming, and document workflows through the Common Data Environment.
• Support quantity take-offs, BOQs, material schedules, federated models, and coordinated drawing packages.
• Conduct QA/QC reviews to ensure model accuracy, constructability, compliance, and data integrity.
• Coordinate closely with Electrical, Civil, MEP, BIM, engineering, site, consultant, and client teams.

Requirements

• Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering, BIM, Drafting, or a related engineering discipline.
• Minimum 8 years of BIM experience, including at least 2 years of on-site coordination exposure.
• Advanced proficiency in Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, and related BIM platforms.
• Strong knowledge of HV, MV, and LV substations, transformers, GIS/AIS switchgear, protection panels, cable routing, and earthing systems.
• Experience in clash detection, model coordination, shop-drawing production, quantity take-offs, and material scheduling.
• Sound understanding of ISO 19650, BIM Execution Plans, Common Data Environment workflows, and LOD requirements.
• Familiarity with DEWA, SEWA, TAQA, TRANSCO, ADDC/ADWEA, IEC, IEEE, and NFPA standards will be highly advantageous.
• Autodesk or BIM professional certification will be an added advantage.
• Prior experience working on Middle Eastern power, utilities, or infrastructure projects will be a distinct advantage.
