Senior Accountant (Matara)

Role Summary

WECare Worldwide is a UK and Sri Lankan charity providing veterinary care for street dogs. The Senior Accountant is responsible for the full financial management and reporting of Sri Lanka operations, including the hospital, CNVR programme, and Mutts Café, ensuring financial transparency and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain accurate financial records for WECare Sri Lanka operations.
  • Process and record financial transactions with proper documentation.
  • Prepare monthly financial reports and management accounts for the Head of Finance.
  • Monitor income, expenditure, and cash flow.
  • Assist with tax filings and ensure compliance with Sri Lankan financial regulations and statutory requirements.

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Fluent in Sinhala and English.
  • Part-qualified or fully qualified accountant (ACCA, CA, CIMA, or equivalent preferred).
  • Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in accounting or finance.
  • Strong knowledge of Sri Lankan financial regulations, payroll administration, and statutory compliance.
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Comfortable working with financial systems and MS Excel.
  • Adaptable, a strong team player, self-motivated, and passionate about animal welfare.
