Role Summary
Seeking an experienced, academically accomplished Senior Lecturer/ Associate Professor/ Professor and Head of Computing to lead the Computing Department at SLIIT - Northern Uni. The role involves academic leadership, ensuring excellence in teaching, learning, research, and quality assurance.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership and overall management of the Department of Computing.
- Ensure academic excellence, innovation, and continuous quality improvement.
- Lead curriculum development, review, and implementation in line with industry trends and accreditation standards.
- Oversee teaching, learning assessment, student progression, and academic performance.
- Supervise, mentor, and support staff in teaching, research, publications, and professional development.
- Promote research, innovation, grant acquisition, industry collaboration, and community engagement.
- Ensure compliance with university policies, quality assurance frameworks, and regulatory requirements.
- Manage departmental budgeting, resource allocation, staffing, and operational activities.
- Foster strong partnerships with industry, professional bodies, and academic institutions.
Requirements/Qualifications
- Applicants must have a First-Class Honours four-year bachelor's degree in computing or a related discipline, together with an earned Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in a relevant field.
- OR: A First- or Second-Class Honours bachelor's degree in computing or a related discipline, together with a postgraduate qualification at SLQF Level 9 or above, and an earned Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in a relevant field of Computing.
- Minimum of ten (10) years' experience demonstrating excellence in teaching, research, and/or industry practice after obtaining a bachelor's degree, with a strong publication record in reputed peer-reviewed journals.
