SENIOR PLANT RELIABILITY ENGINEER – DAIRY PROCESSING & AUTOMATION

We are on the lookout for a qualified and experienced Senior Plant Reliability Engineer – Dairy Processing & Automation for our client company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop a unified preventive and predictive maintenance program for mechanical and servo/digital equipment
  • Lead root-cause analysis of breakdowns, from mechanical wear to PLC/HMI faults
  • Build a critical spares strategy to protect high-margin products (Greek yogurt, mozzarella, feta)
  • Recruit, mentor and lead a team of 2-4 maintenance technicians, moving the team from reactive fixes to preventive ownership
  • Train technicians and operators across skill levels, from new HMIs to mechanical fundamentals
  • Structure 24/7 engineering coverage during critical culture and fermentation cycles
  • Design and fabricate custom guards, chutes, mounts and feed mechanisms where OEM parts are obsolete
  • Use OEE data and lean principles to reduce scrap and yield loss
  • Act as the main technical liaison during vendor training and ensure new systems support traceability under ISO 22000 and HACCP

REQUIREMENTS

  • B.Sc. in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics or Industrial Engineering
  • 7-10 years in industrial/maintenance engineering in Food & Beverage (FMCG) or dairy manufacturing
  • Essential: experience with cheese processing or high-viscosity fermented products
  • Hands-on experience with both legacy systems (mechanical power transmission, pneumatics/hydraulics) and digital systems (PLCs such as Allen Bradley/Siemens, HMIs, VFDs, sensors, industrial networking)
  • Deep knowledge of CIP systems and hygienic design; working knowledge of ISO 22000, HACCP and GMP
  • Fluent spoken and written English, for working with international OEM engineers and technical documentation
  • Experience with GEA, Tetra Pak or Krones filling/packaging lines
  • AutoCAD or SolidWorks proficiency
  • Predictive maintenance tools (vibration analysis, thermal imaging, oil analysis)
  • Experience in a smart-factory environment
  • Knowledge of Sri Lanka's dairy supply chain and local equipment support networks
