Lead QA Automation Engineer at Orel IT (Pvt) Ltd

Role Summary

As a Lead QA Automation Engineer, you will lead our quality automation strategy across web, mobile, and API platforms. Working closely with Engineering, Product, and DevOps teams, you will drive automation best practices and foster a culture of engineering excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable automation frameworks for web, mobile, and API testing.
  • Define QA automation architecture, coding standards, and engineering best practices.
  • Establish and own end-to-end testing strategies, quality gates, and CI/CD integration.
  • Lead, mentor, and support QA engineers.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Product, and DevOps teams to promote shift-left testing.
  • Monitor quality metrics, improve automation coverage, and reduce production defects.
  • Evaluate and implement modern testing frameworks, tools, and AI-assisted automation practices.

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8–12 years of experience in software quality assurance, with expertise in automation framework development.
  • Proven experience automating at least two of the following: web, mobile, or API testing.
  • Strong programming skills in Java, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, C#, or similar object-oriented languages.
  • Hands-on experience with tools such as Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, Appium, REST Assured, Karate, or equivalent.
  • Experience integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, or similar).
  • Strong knowledge of Git, Docker, cloud or device testing platforms, and modern software testing methodologies.
  • Excellent leadership, mentoring, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with performance, security, and non-functional testing practices.
  • Knowledge of contract testing, service virtualisation, and test data management.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform).
  • Professional certifications such as ISTQB Advanced Level.
  • Experience leveraging AI-powered development tools (GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, etc.).
