Senior Site Reliability Engineer – MSSQL

Role Summary

Platned is looking for a highly skilled Senior MSSQL Site Reliability Engineer to join our Managed Services division in Sri Lanka. In this position, you will take technical ownership of complex, mission-critical database environments, ensuring high availability and optimal performance for global enterprise customers. This is a senior, shift-based role that requires participation in 24/7 support cycles and out-of-hours maintenance to maintain service continuity.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the full lifecycle of enterprise Microsoft SQL Server environments, including patching, upgrades, and security hardening.
• Lead incident investigation, root-cause analysis, and performance optimization using advanced tuning techniques.
• Design and govern robust backup, recovery, and replication strategies to ensure business continuity.
• Implement and manage High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions such as Always On Availability Groups.
• Oversee database deployments, schema changes, and data archiving processes.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including network, cybersecurity, and infrastructure to resolve complex technical issues.
• Provide technical leadership through mentoring junior engineers and establishing operational standards.

Requirements & Qualifications

• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• At least 5 years of professional experience managing production-level Microsoft SQL Server environments.
• Deep expertise in SQL performance monitoring, execution plans, indexing, and capacity planning.
• Strong proficiency in T-SQL and PowerShell scripting for automation and reporting.
• Hands-on experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, and failover clustering technologies.
• Familiarity with ITIL frameworks and managed services operational workflows.
• A mandatory Microsoft database certification (e.g., DP-300) or an equivalent recognized credential.
• Excellent English communication skills for technical leadership and stakeholder management.
