MEDICAL OFFICER - IN CHARGE (SURGICAL DEPARTMENT)

We are seeking a highly competent and dedicated Medical Officer – In Charge to lead and coordinate clinical and administrative functions of the Surgical Department, ensuring the highest standards of patient care, safety, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day clinical operations of the Surgical Department.
• Supervise and guide Medical Officers, House Officers, and nursing staff attached to the unit.
• Ensure adherence to clinical protocols, infection control standards, and hospital policies.
• Coordinate with Consultant Surgeons, Anesthetists, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless patient management.
• Monitor quality indicators, clinical audits, and patient safety initiatives.
• Manage duty rosters and ensure optimal staff allocation.
• Participate in continuous medical education and departmental development activities.

Ideal Candidate Profile

• MBBS degree recognized by the Sri Lanka Medical Council (SLMC).
• Full registration with SLMC.
• Minimum 5 years' post-internship clinical experience, with exposure to surgical settings.
• Prior experience in a supervisory or leadership role will be a distinct advantage.
• Strong clinical judgment, leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
