About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Tax Executive / Supervisor to join a reputed Audit & Accounting firm. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing tax compliance assignments, supporting clients with tax-related matters, handling IRD correspondence and assessments, and supervising junior staff to ensure accurate and timely completion of tax assignments.

Key Responsibilities

Tax Compliance & Advisory

  • Prepare and review tax computations, tax returns, reconciliations and related documentation.
  • Ensure timely compliance with Inland Revenue Department (IRD) requirements and statutory tax deadlines.
  • Handle tax audits, assessments, notices and correspondence with the IRD.
  • Provide tax advisory and compliance support to clients.
  • Respond to and resolve client-related queries.
  • Keep up to date with changes to Sri Lankan Tax Laws, regulations and statutory requirements.
  • Review financial information and identify relevant tax implications and compliance requirements.

Supervision & Client Management

  • Supervise junior staff and review their tax-related work for accuracy and quality.
  • Allocate and monitor tax assignments to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Provide guidance and technical support to junior team members.
  • Liaise directly with clients to obtain required financial and tax information.
  • Maintain professional relationships with clients and provide timely assistance on tax matters.
  • Assist with internal reviews and ensure the quality of all tax assignments.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in Taxation, preferably within an Audit or Accounting Firm.
  • Part/full qualification in CA, ACCA, CIMA, or a related professional qualification will be an added advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of Sri Lankan Tax Laws and Regulations, including:
    • Income Tax
    • VAT
    • APIT
    • Other applicable statutory requirements
  • Strong understanding of tax compliance procedures and IRD requirements.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Microsoft Excel.
  • Familiarity with accounting and tax software.
  • Strong analytical, numerical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and client-handling skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work under deadlines.
  • Previous experience supervising or reviewing junior staff will be an advantage.
