Tea Taster and Purchasing Agent

TEA TASTER & BUYER

We are looking for a results-driven and experienced Tea Taster & Buyer for our client company.

This is a key role responsible for evaluating, selecting and recommending teas for purchase, with a strong focus on identifying and securing high-quality Up-Country Ceylon Teas that meet customer requirements and export standards at commercially competitive prices.

Requirements:

• Strong professional tea-tasting and sensory evaluation experience
• Extensive knowledge of Ceylon Tea, particularly Up-Country teas
• Strong understanding of tea grades, manufacturing characteristics and factory-wise quality
• Sound knowledge of Colombo Tea Auction practices and market dynamics
• Exceptional palate and ability to distinguish subtle differences in liquor and infusion
• Strong comparative tasting and tea-memory skills
• Proven commercial buying sense and ability to assess quality against price
• Ability to identify tea quality defects and inconsistencies
• Strong analytical, decision-making and communication skills
• Ability to make clear and timely buying recommendations under auction pressure
• High level of integrity, professionalism and confidentiality
