Technician - Ground Support Equipment

Role Summary: To ensure the optimal performance, safety and availability of all Ground Support Equipment (GSE) routine maintenance, inspections, and servicing. The Technician - Ground Support Equipment is responsible for executing day-to-day maintenance tasks, preparing equipment - specific maintenance schedules, and coordinating closely with the Ground Operations team to support seamless ground operations.

  • Perform daily maintenance checks and serviceability assessments of all ground support equipment.
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules based on manufacture guideline and operational requirements.
  • Carry out timely repairs and corrective maintenance to ensure minimal downtime.
  • Monitor the operational status and performance of the GSE fleet and take prompt action on any deficiencies.
  • Coordinate with Ground Operations Superintendent (Ramp) and the Ground Operations Manager to report equipment status, requirements, and updates.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections and parts usage.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standard and operational procedures during all maintenance work.
  • Manage the maintenance of the entire GSE fleet across both CIAR and JIA Airports.
  • Serve as the main technical contact for all ground support equipment, ensuring availability and readiness in support of daily operations.
  • Ensure that the execution of all assigned job tasks are performed in a manner which safeguards organizational information assets and maintain compliance with the AASL standard and procedures.
  • Attend to any other relevant responsibilities assigned by supervisory officers.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Should possess NAB/NAITA or a Trade Certificate issued by a Technical college having followed successfully a full time course of not less than 02 years' duration in the Automobile Mechanic/Automobile Electrician.
  • OR Should possess NVQ Level 4 qualification in the field of Automobile Mechanic/Automobile Electrician.
  • AND Should possess 04 years overall experience in the Ground Support Equipment Maintenance (including training period).
  • AND Should possess a valid Heavy Vehicle Driving License.
  • Age should be below 45 years at the closing date of applications.
  • Good written and spoken communication skill in English and Sinhala are required. Conversant in Tamil Language will be an added advantage.
