Role Summary

The Sri Lanka Centre for Development Facilitation (SLCDF) is seeking a consultant to design and deliver comprehensive media training for approximately 125 media personnel. The project, Let the Women Decide Their Destiny, aims to equip journalists and editors with skills for responsible, gender-sensitive reporting on marginalized women and to facilitate the publication of 25 articles highlighting their lived experiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop a context-appropriate training module on responsible and gender-sensitive reporting.
  • Facilitate five one-day training programmes for approximately 125 media personnel.
  • Deliver training in the required medium (Tamil, Sinhala, or English) for each venue.
  • Prepare simple, practical training materials and handouts in Sinhala, Tamil, and English.
  • Provide guidance and follow-up support to facilitate the publication of 25 articles.
  • Submit a final training and advocacy report.

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Professional background and proven experience in media training, journalism, or communications, with a focus on ethical and gender-sensitive reporting.
  • Experience designing and delivering training for journalists, editors, or media personnel.
  • Experience working with or reporting on marginalized or vulnerable populations.
  • Strong facilitation and participatory training skills, with the ability to work effectively in Sinhala, Tamil, or English.
  • Established relationships with media houses, editors, or journalist networks to support the publication component.

Location

Training venues include Vavuniya, Colombo, and Puttalam or Gampaha.

Salary/Benefits

Interested consultants are requested to submit a financial proposal including:

  • Resource person fee (per day and/or per programme).
  • Transportation cost for each training venue.
  • Training outline and sample modules.
