Welder Fitter

Role Summary

We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Welder to join our Maintenance & Engineering team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for carrying out high-quality welding, fabrication, and repair work to support the maintenance and continuous operation of plant machinery, equipment, and infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Performing welding, fabrication, and repair work on machinery, equipment, and plant infrastructure.
• Operating welding machines, including MIG and TIG welding machines, to produce high-quality welds.
• Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, and welding specifications.
• Fabricating and assembling metal structures, frames, guards, and machine components as required.
• Inspecting welded joints to ensure they meet quality and safety standards.
• Assisting with installation, modification, and maintenance of production equipment.
• Maintaining welding equipment, tools, and work areas in good working condition.
• Identifying and reporting equipment defects or maintenance requirements.
• Ensuring compliance with occupational health and safety procedures while carrying out welding activities.
• Collaborating with the Maintenance & Engineering team to minimize equipment downtime and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements/Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3/4 or an equivalent qualification in Welding, Fabrication, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Experience in operating welding equipment, including GAS, Arc, MIG, and TIG welding machines (must).
• Experience in metal fabrication, cutting, grinding, and assembly in detail.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and fabrication plans.
• Knowledge of welding techniques, materials, and safety standards.
• Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to use measuring instruments and fabrication tools accurately.
• Basic knowledge of mechanical maintenance will be considered an added advantage.
• Ability to work beyond normal shift hours during emergency maintenance requirements.
